Female and Male anatomy proportions head and torso by Lucis7 Female and Male anatomy proportions head and torso by Lucis7
Female and Male anatomy proportions for head and torso.

The measurements are in centimeters and show the relation between the height and width of the torso with the head. The base of the head can have any size as long as the proportions keep the same.

For example, from the top of the head to the chin is one head and a half.

1 head = 2cm ; so 1,5 heads = 3cm

1 head = 4cm ; so 1,5 heads = 6cm

Added onto the previous part:

I can work this into a scale system I can easily use myself to rework an already inprogress practice piece.

This is literally the first(and probably 1 in a million) that gives actual Horizontal scale of the torso, AND for both male and female counterparts. Something I have been long since looking for.

I've been doing separate sketches from the poses before and analyzing the proportions in each, they are all in my tumblr. Then I redraw it all in a sheet, that was a whole day :)

No wonder the girl gesture drawings I did looked funky. Thanks. Are you doing one of these for legs as well or have you already done one?

Actually gesture drawings should be as funky as you can make them! I'll be doing one for the lower part of the body in the future of course~

I remember my art teacher telling me the same and also that the waist and legs should be 2 times the torso

so:

head= 1 head
neck= 1/2 head
shoulder to shoulder= 3 heads width
torso= 2 heads height
waist= head on it's side for width
legs= 3 heads
hands and feet= 1 head each(hands are at least when open)

Exactly! so you can use anything to measure that one head, could be an inch a centimeter, or even your own thumb! :D

yea I generally have the most trouble with 3/4th view

In the 3/4 view, all the horizontal lines from shoulders, chest and waist become diagonal lines, with a little bit of tilt depending on where the character is facing, but they are all parallel lines.
